Sam Samson of Boulder received his first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine Wednesday at the Jefferson County Public Health Department. It was administered by nurse Kim Franchi. The department began implementing Phase IB on Jan. 13, and it includes those age 70 and over, those age 16-69 with high risk health conditions and American Indians and other people of color who may be at elevated risk for COVID-19 complications. The vaccine requires two doses. Those receiving the vaccines are prioritized by age, health and availability as the vaccine must be used promptly, said Clinic Coordinator Molly Carey.

Phase 1B includes a very large number of eligible individuals and vaccine is currently distributed in limited allotments, according to the Public Health Department. To be placed on the Jefferson County waiting list, call 406-225-4007 or 406-287-3249 and leave a message containing your name, age and phone number.

The department has also created a COVID-19 dashboard for the county. It can be found at http://www.jeffersoncounty-mt.gov/COVID-19.
