Law Enforcement Dispatch
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for a fulltime Communications Officer (Dispatch) position. The position will be located at the Law and Justice Center in Boulder Montana. Communications Officers operate communications equipment, answer emergency & non-emergency calls from the general public, and dispatches the appropriate Law, Fire and EMS units using manual and Computer Aided Dispatch systems.
18 Years of age
High School Diploma
Must have or be able to obtain a Montana Driver’s License - Must be of good moral character with no criminal record.
A background investigation, criminal history and pre-employment testing will be conducted.
Must successfully complete 14-week in-house training (to begin on first day of work).
Must successfully complete POST Public Safety Telecommunicator, Emergency Medical Dispatch, Fire
Communications and Law Enforcement Communications courses within one year of hire.
Prior Law Enforcement and computer experience preferred.
Ability to type accurately at a minimum 25 wpm.
Be able to read and interpret maps and have an adequate knowledge of the geography of Jefferson County.
Must be willing and able to do shift work to include nights, weekends, holidays, on-call and occasional overtime.
Must be willing to work well with others in a confined area for long periods of time without leaving the facility.
Beginning salary: $20.23 per hour (depending on qualifications). Routine cost of living increases, excellent County contributed health insurance and HSA, yearly uniform allowance, sick leave accrual, paid time off accrual, union representation, Public Employee Retirement System, & continued/on-going training.
