The Jefferson County Health Department seeks a permanent Health Officer. This position is an independent contractor and not an employee of Jefferson County, Montana or the Jefferson County Health Department. This position must work with federal, state, and local officials, other health boards and public health associations throughout Montana, private and government agencies and community health providers, local schools and the public to ensure health program efficiency and compliance with laws, rules and regulations. This position will enforce health codes, standards, practices and procedures with the assistance of health department staff as delegated; position will work cooperatively with other health care staff to control the spread of disease, particularly with respect to safety and sanitation conditions; directs quarantine protocol for Jefferson County; validate state licenses issued by the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services; will perform or delegate the duties set forth in § 50-2-118 MCA; will represent the Jefferson County Health Department and prepares reports for the board as directed; will attend scheduled and emergency board meetings. The Health Board will pay the Health Officer total contract compensation of $1,000.00 per month. Jefferson County will also provide Incidental Medical Malpractice insurance coverage for claims arising out of the actions of Health Officer. This position must be a licensed physician, hold a master’s degree in public health, or have an equivalent education and experience as determined by the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services.
